CK Group are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Scientist, Immunology/Functional Genomics to join our clients research team in our mission to serve patients with intractable cancers.

This role is critical-path for the company and will have a large impact internally. We are seeking candidates with experience in human immunology, strong independent thinkers and willing to be in the lab.

This role is on a permanent basis, located in Waltham, MA.

 

The Company:

The company are developing therapeutics for patients with challenging, complex cancers. They employ a single cell sequencing platform to dissect the biology of immune cells in human tumors and identify novel, exciting oncology targets.

They are currently advancing multiple programs toward early human studies. The company is a growing vibrant team of scientists who are proactive, thoughtful and bring a "can-do" attitude to the lab. 

 

The Role: 

Your primary responsibilities will be to design and execute a wide variety of cell-based immunoassays using functional genomics for preclinical development of the company’s lead programs. You will also generate key data for validation of novel targets and drive the development of future programs and for the platform.

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Independently design, plan and execute in vitro and ex vivo cell-based immunoassays to demonstrate proof of concept and generate mechanistic understanding of therapeutic candidates.
  • Provide experimental validation that contributes to conceptualizing, assessing and building new target programs.
  • Prioritize and execute experimental plans according to project timelines and needs.
  • Thoroughly document experiments and communicate results across functional teams.
  • Manage junior scientists and/or associates.
  • Interact with other team members in a matrix environment, collaborators in industry and academia, and CROs as needed.
 

Requirements:

  • PhD in immunology, cell and/or cancer biology or a related field.
  • At least 3+ years of relevant post-doctoral laboratory experience, including industrial experience.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with standard immunological techniques including multi-parameter flow cytometry, cell sorting, immunoassays such as ELISA, Cytotoxicity, in vitro co-culture assays (MLR, PBMC cultures, etc), and reporter bioassay development.
  • Experience engineering cells via viral transduction and/or CRISPR editing highly desired.
  • Innate immune cell in vitro activation assays such as for Myeloid and NK cells highly desired.
  • Experience with in vivo models of oncology or immune-related diseases is highly desired.
  • Experience assessing activity of antibodies and biotherapeutics is desired.
  • Able to independently design and execute experiments, analyze data, and effectively communicate conclusions.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Able to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced, team-oriented environment with colleagues from diverse disciplines.
