CK Group are recruiting for a Principal Scientist, DMPK (Director level) to join a leading global pharmaceutical company on a permanent basis to be based in London . This is a highly exciting time to join as the company has plans to expand their London presence and will be moving into their new UK HQ at the hub of London’s Knowledge Quarter within the next few years. 

 

The Role:

Playing a key role in the growth of our clients journey, the successful candidate will be coming in at a Director level leading the drug metabolism and pharmacokinetic efforts (DMPK) and translational strategies for programs within multiple therapeutic areas. You will  be a key contributor to multi-disciplinary drug discovery efforts providing an integrated understanding of DMPK properties, PK/PD, and drug interaction (DDI) risk of novel therapeutics.   Working collaboratively with discovery teams in UK and globally across the DMPK function, you will partner externally with academic and biotech groups.

With several direct reports, the Principal Scientist will help establish and maintain a culture of engagement, driving diversity and inclusion initiatives, leading a small group of talented scientists and supporting their growth and personal development including performance management while connecting strongly with global DMPK leadership.

 

Your Background:

  • Degree qualified (MSc, PhD) in biochemistry, pharmacology, biomedical engineering or equivalent with substantial relevant pharmaceutical industry experience.
  • Demonstrated project-team leadership contributing to development, execution and fostering of DMPK and translational PK/PD/efficacy strategies for small molecule or peptide therapeutics.
  • A strong knowledge of DMPK, ADME and/or PK/PD principles, including the ability to use and interpret a wide array of experimental and in silico data to advance drug discovery efforts for small molecule therapeutics, ultimately leading to selection of clinical candidates
  • Ability to partner with related scientific disciplines that are pertinent to drug discovery and early development (e.g., chemistry, protein sciences, pharmacology, drug safety/toxicology and translational medicine) and an ability to lead cross-discipline projects.
  • Experienced in integrating preclinical DMPK and pharmacology to enable translational modeling and simulation to support dose selection, design of PK/PD and safety assessment studies, and dose justifications for preclinical and clinical studies.
  • Experience in assessing the impact of various factors on the PK and PD of novel therapeutics.
  • Ability to design and interpret novel, hypothesis driven ADME studies support the optimization of small molecules, peptides and/or targeted therapies.
  • Strong leadership and people management experience
