CK Group are recruiting for a Laboratory Shift Team Leader to join a leading provider of specialty metals, alloys and materials. The role is based in Rotherham and is on a full time, permanent basis.

Shifts:

12-hour shift rota – 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off pattern , working hours are from 07:00-19:00 or 19:00-07:00

The Role:

Supervise the Analytical lab, complete analyses and report results on metal and refractory materials using a variety of analytical testing methods.

Basicsalary based on experience, between £27,500 - £32,000 depending on experience Role attracts a Rota premium of £6,500 per annum on top of salary.

Your main duties will be:

  • Lead and supervise the shift analysts to carry out a range of analytical testing on metals and refractory materials.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Health, Safety and Environmental Policies
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with ISO standards and Quality Procedures
  • Work as part of a rota system (12-hour shift rota – 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off pattern) and provide cover for absence and holidays as and when required –
  • To undertake testing required by both internal and external customers in a timely and accurate manner andby the required deadlines
  • Ensure housekeeping is to the required standards at all times; areas are clean and safe at the end of the shift

The ideal candidate's skills and qualifications:

  • HNC or Equivalent in Chemistry, Metallurgy or Materials Engineering
  • Proven leadership experience in a laboratory environment.
  • Proven experience in laboratory testing, preferably in metallurgical testing.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work to tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Any Experience with the following techniques used in a laboratory would be an advantage (e.g. ICP-OES/ XRD/ XRF / Density / Gravimetric / Titration / BET – surface area / Malvern particle size / Other non-standard testing)
