CK Group are recruiting for a Formulation Chemist to join a well established, independently owned pharmaceutical company at their site in Bedford on a permanent basis.

The role

You will be responsible for rapid throughput of new cosmetic / cosmeceutical products, and the formulation development of topical pharmaceutical medicines and medical devices.

The role will involve cross functional collaboration with several departments to drive projects from concept to launch while ensuring the company’s quality, safety, and efficacy standards are met.

Other duties and responsibilities include:

  • Design, plan and development of robust formulations based on the project brief
  • Fully and accurately document all research and development activities, managing multi-projects simultaneously.
  • Work collaboratively within the team environment to find solutions to problems related to both supporting and troubleshooting existing and new product development.
  • Participation in production-scale trials to ensure smooth transition of projects from development to commercial scale.
  • Supporting clinical and pilot studies.
  • Keep up to date with the latest industry trends and scientific advancements through research and attendance to trade shows and identify potential opportunities to help drive product improvements and innovation.
 

Your background:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in cosmetic or pharmaceutical sciences.
  • Experience in formulation development of skincare or personal care, topical/ transdermal formulations, preferably in cosmetics or pharmaceutical industries. 
  • Strong knowledge of cosmetic/pharmaceutical ingredients and their interactions.
  • Familiarity with cosmetic, medicinal, or medical device regulations.
  • Demonstrate strong HPLC, GC and wet chemistry skills
  • Passion for continuous learning and a growth mindset.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
