Business Development Manager
CK Group are seeking a Business Development Manager to join our client who provide the smart-automation systems, biological culture device, smart-management, analytical device, GMP production systems, Desktop bio-devices and general consumables and end to end software, based in Cambridge, MA.
This role is on a full time, permanent basis.
Travel is required.
Expertise in lab automation equipment and solutions is essential.
The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying and nurturing new business opportunities in the Research laboratories, CRO, CMO, CDMO, and biopharmaceutical sectors to generate revenue and improve profitability in line with the business objectives, with a focus on instrument and systems development (such as PCR, Reader, Imager, Counter, Bioreactor, Incubator, Liquid Handling, and Monoclone technologies). Working closely with the Sales Director to forecast new business and guide structural changes to the company to help the business grow.
The following job duties apply:
- Develop business case for new opportunities and propose strategic approaches to winning bids.
- Establish connections with clients, vendors, partners, and distributors.
- Set up sales plan and achieve monthly/Quarterly sales Goal.
- Examine current alliances and sales initiatives with the goal of enhancing what is effective and improving what is ineffective.
- Maintain important client relationships and establishing new ones.
- Build and strengthen relationships with both internal and external parties to boost lead generation and market share.
- Attend relevant industry events and conferences to identify market opportunities, exhibit products and services and make excellent presentations.
- Maintain an awareness of market trends in related markets and inform management of any potential effects on businesses.
- Coordinate timely and thorough reviews of commercial terms & conditions for new customers or complex contracts/projects.
- Complete regular entries and update in the CRM application to include contacts, appointments, opportunities and account plans.
- Produce and present periodic sales reports with demonstrable actions to company executives.
Required skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor/Master of Science with equivalent job experience. Biological, Cytology, Genetics, Immunology, and other biological majors preferred.
- 8-10 years of sales experience in the Boston area, with a preference for those with a background in pharmaceutical, CRO, CMO, or CDMO companies.
- Possess familiarity and establish strong relationships with Bio-tech laboratories, CRO/CDMO, and pharmaceutical customers in the Boston Area
- Familiarity with the bio-pharmaceutical industry's development processes and expertise in lab automation equipment and solutions.
- Experience in collaborating with distributors and consumables sales in the United States.
- Excellent communication skills, self-motivated, self-starter, sense of urgency, personable and well organized.
- Strong business acumen, and persuasive.
- Excellent PC skills, including experience using MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with CRM is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Strong technical and machine shop knowledge
- Expected travel is 30-60% yearly.
