CK Group are recruiting for an Analytical Chemist to join the quality and analytics team of a process optimisation company at their site based in Manchester on a full time, permanent basis.

The Company:

A leading provider of chemical optimisation services to the pharmaceutical industry, this company provides solutions that allow customers to make the best use of their available resources. The Analytical Chemist will work with the Manager and Project leaders to undertake analytical projects. This role would suit a Bachelors- or Masters-qualified applicant who has hands on method development experience with HPLC, GC and/ or NMR.

Location:

The Analytical Chemist will be based at the company's site in Manchester which is easily accessible by road from surrounding areas including Ashton-under-Lyne, Rochdale, Stockport, Salford, Oldham amongst others.

Analytical Development Chemist Role:

Your main duties will be:

  • To perform qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis of various materials (in-process, raw material and finished products) via HPLC, NMR and GC
  • To aid the development and implementation of new analytical test procedures as required in the company’s operations
  • Plan own work and communicate timelines to accurately base line plan projects
  • To maintain accurate records of all workcarried out
  • To manage workload and project documentation to level suitable for external examination
  • To assist in trouble shooting analytical methodology and plant process when required
  • To present reports, both written and verbal, when required, to both customers and work colleagues

Your Background:

The ideal candidate for this role will have the following skills and experience:

  • Qualified degree (BSc) level or equivalent in a Chemistry related vocation - essential, preferably higher (MSc / PhD)
  • Proven hands on method development experience with HPLC, NMR and/ or GC - essential
  • Experience gained within a GxP environment would be advantageous
  • Sufficiently flexible to be able travel on business if required

Criteria

Education, Experience & Achievements

Essential

  • A relevant postgraduate research degree or equivalent professional experience in the field of carbohydrate material science.
  • Previous experience of independent research.
  • Presentations at conferences and a track record of publications in respected journals or equivalent in the field.

Desirable

  • Research experience in polysaccharide and their industrial applications.
  • Involvementin packaging material research and development.
  • Materials formulation and characterisation expertise.
