Senior Technologist - Optical Engineer
CK Group are recruiting for a Senior Technologist – Optical Engineer, to join a global materials manufacturing company, based near Wigan, on a full time, permanent basis.

The Senior Technologist position will be based at the company's site near Wigan, easily commutable by road from Merseyside including Liverpool, Ormskirk, Skelmersdale and Manchester. Please note a full UK driving licence and car ownership is required due to the company's location.
Your main duties will be:
- Creating and enhancing automatic inspection systems from concept through to implementation
- Providing novel and innovative solutions to complex inspection problems
- Working with many packages from legacy systems through to high level programming languages
- Partnering with R&D and production teams to identify and deliver instruments and process improvements safely and effectively
- Providing both on-site and remote technical support, while upgrading and maintaining existing systems
Your Background:
The ideal candidate for this role will have the following skills and experience:
- Degree in a STEM subject
- Minimum of 5 years' practical experience of inline and offline inspection systems and their practical applications
- Experience of industrial metrology and precision measurement techniques
- Experience of software development, including mathematical algorithm design, image processing, C#, C++, or other programming languages
- Full UK Driving licence and access to your own transport
