CK Group are recruiting for a Principal Scientist with expertise in analytical method development in polymer chemistry combined with practical experience working with genetic materials, to join a life sciences business that is experiencing growth at their facility located near Cambridge on a permanent basis.

 

The Company:

Our clients are a growing biotechnology company that are pioneers in the development of Nanomedicines. The company’s focus is to improve the therapeutic viability of potential therapeutic molecules with poor pharmacokinetic and chemical properties.

 

Location:

This role is based on a Technology Park based to the south-east of Cambridge. 

 

The Role:

This is a lab-based role focusing initially on establishing methods for quantifying polymers and genetic materials loaded in polymeric particles, requiring expertise in techniques including HPLC, spectroscopy and fluorometry.  It is anticipated that the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to establish and lead an analytical team in due course.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Developing HPLC and spectroscopy methods for quantifying payloads (genetic materials) inside polymeric particles.
  • Collaborate with formulation and polymer chemists and provide QC checks for drug delivery formulations.
  • Writing scientific protocols and SOPs.
  • Troubleshooting and maintenance of HPLC instrument.
 

Your Background:

  • PhD in Chemistry or related scientific discipline with significant experience working in a pharmaceutical or biotech environment.
  • A background in polymer Chemistry combined with extensive expertise in Chromatography and spectroscopy to quantify genetic material loaded inside polymeric particles. 
  • Practical experience in analysing polymers, nucleic acids, and nanoparticles using chromatography techniques.
  • Proficiency in HPLC method development, including reversed phase, ion exchange, affinity and size exclusion chromatography.
  • Familiarity with Agilent HPLC systems and OpenLab Chromatography software is an advantage.
