Medical Director, Oncology
Julia Day at the CK Group, is looking to recruit a Medical Director, with expertise in oncology and early clinical development, for an exciting and innovative small pharmaceutical company.
This is an opportunity to drive innovation at an agile, high-growth biotech company, working at the forefront of early clinical development across multiple tumour types and treatment modalities.
As Medical Director, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping clinical strategy, overseeing global trials, and providing medical expertise from protocol design to regulatory engagement. You’ll collaborate with senior leaders to guide cutting-edge oncology programs and evaluate new assets for in-licensing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide medical and oncology expertise in the design and execution of Phase 1 and Phase 2 clinical trials.
- Oversee translational medicine initiatives to bridge preclinical and clinical development.
- Lead medical review, safety assessments, and interpretation of clinical data.
- Engage with global regulatory agencies and contribute to key submission documents.
- Work closely with Clinical Operations to ensure the efficient execution of trials.
- Support the development of abstracts, conference presentations, and manuscripts.
- Build strong relationships with KOLs and external experts to support clinical development.
- Contribute to the strategic evaluation of new in-licensing opportunities.

Who we’re looking for:
- An experience clinical development physician with significant experience in oncology.
- An Oncologist would be ideal but not essential if therapy expertise exists.
- Strong background in early-phase oncology trials & investigational drug development.
- Proven track record in clinical strategy, regulatory engagement & patient safety oversight.
- Deep understanding of translational medicine and early clinical development.
- Exceptional communication & leadership skills, comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
- A high level of emotional intelligence.
- An active interest in clinical practice and patients.
