CK Group are currently recruiting for a Laboratory Manager to join a chemical manufacturing company in the oil and additives industry at their site based in the Basildon area, on a full time, permanent basis.

The Client:

Our client is a privately owned organisation who specialise in formulating, manufacturing and supplying chemicals used in the oil and gas industry. The company offers a salary of £34,000 as well as a generous benefits package including 25 days' holiday + bank holidays, pension scheme with a company contribution of 9%, life assurance scheme, private healthcare, employee assistance programme and discretionary bonus scheme.

Location:

This role will be based at the company's site near Basildon, easily commutable by road from Chelmsford, Romford, Wickford, Southend, Grays and surrounding areas. 

Lab Manager Role:

Your main duties will include:

  •  Supervising the laboratory technicians and providing training and support as required
  •  Holding performance reviews and setting objectives for the laboratory technicians
  •  Provide support to the Technical and Sales teams as required
  •  Responsible for the maintenance of laboratory equipment
  •  You may have to cover the occasional night shift for holiday and/or sickness cover
  •  Responsible for all in house testing of raw materials and finished products
  •  Responsible for upkeep and ordering of all consumables required for the laboratory
  •  Responsible for sample disposal

Your Background:

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  •  A Chemistry Degree
  •  Previous experience managing an Analytical, QC or Testing Laboratory
