Responsibilities

- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for implementing control strategies to enhance manufacturing processes in a GMP environment.
- Introduce and implement innovative technologies, software, and control strategies to streamline manufacturing and administrative processes.
- Provide automation support for systems such as DCS (DeltaV), MES (PAS-X), PLC, SCADA, and OEM systems.
- Lead continuous improvement projects, including automation reviews of equipment specifications, P&IDs, and System Life Cycle documentation.
- Troubleshoot complex equipment and automation issues to improve manufacturing performance, support new product changes, and maintain compliance with cGMP.
- Facilitate the transfer of process technologies from early-stage pipeline facilities to GMP operational status, ensuring alignment with commercial supply requirements.
- Lead automation-related investigations into deviations and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate with external vendors for spare parts and service visits.
- Support the qualification of new systems, including writing, reviewing, and executing test documents.
- Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Validation, and Technical teams to resolve complex problems.
- Contribute to Digital Transformation initiatives, including system integrations, data connectivity, data analysis, and process optimization.
- Provide off-shift support as needed to meet project, operations, and qualification requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in a Life Science discipline or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in automation controls, specifically with DeltaV DCS.
- In-depth knowledge of computer validation/SDLC requirements and automation change control procedures (e.g., GAMP 5).
- Proficiency in English (C1 level); German language skills are advantageous.
- Proven expertise in DeltaV DCS, DeltaV Batch, and familiarity with ISA S95 and S88 standards.
- At least 3 years of experience in automation or engineering roles within Biologics, Food, Medical Devices, or Pharmaceutical industries.
- Experience with industrial controls such as DCS (DeltaV), MES (PAS-X), and Historian (PI).
- Familiarity with I/O networking protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, OPC, Profinet, ModBus) is a plus.
- Basic networking knowledge.
- Experience in commissioning, qualification, and test protocol development and execution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and optimize automation solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve automation-related issues to ensure seamless manufacturing operations.
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance and compliance.
