Temporary Staffing of Molecular Diagnostic Testing Laboratories Across The UK – Case Study

CK Group staffed a UK COVID-19 Testing for an Occupational Health organisation that worked with a big brand within the film industry. Our team was able to fill the client’s requirements to a 100% ratio and to a time-critical deadline. This meant the client was able to fulfill their contract with the film company and in turn, the project led to hundreds, if not thousands of people being able to return to work in the UK and across the globe.

Requirement:

CK Group’s Scientific Contract Recruitment Team was approached by an Occupational Health organisation to help staff multiple molecular diagnostic laboratories for COVID-19 screening on an exclusive basis. This was initially a small scale project which lead to a medium sized operation which led to CK Group managing a contract workforce of 30+ laboratory workers, including Laboratory Manager, Quality Manager, PCR Analysts, Laboratory Technicians and support staff.

Action:

Our scientific contract recruitment team is made up of Recruiters, Recruitment Support Officers and Compliance/Administration Officers.  We employed a Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) model with our customer under a contingency worker pay model.  This means, they gained the benefit of only having a single point of contact inside our business but only paid for our services once we had delivered (think no placement, no fee).  Working under the RPO model our team of staff made it their aim to understand our client’s business well.  As a result, CK Group’s experienced team were able to quickly engage with a large number of suitably qualified scientists that were right for our customer.  All scientists were fully briefed on the job role and were entered into an active talent pool of people that we could contact at short notice for employment opportunities.  This led to many job vacancies being filled within 2 working days.  Throughout the 2-year project, we supported our client and contactors by keeping in regular contact, providing monthly KPI reporting data, dealing with contract amendments quickly, responsibility for staffing issues, managing holidays, and offboarding.  This allowed our clients to focus on running their business rather than having to deal with day-to-day staffing matters.

Our client was very happy with the support we provided throughout the project and we delivered a 100% ratio on every assignment we were engaged on.
