Product Development Technologist
CK Group are recruiting for a Product Development Technologist to join a chemical manufacturing company in the transport and construction industries at their site based in Hertfordshire on a permanent basis with a salary of £33,000 - £42,000.
The Company:
Our client is a specialist polymer processing and coating company, they are a leading manufacturer and supplier that were established 100 years ago.
Location:
This role is located north Hertfordshire. The site is easily commutable from London, Cambridge and the surrounding areas there are excellent transport links via public transport and a great road networks.
Technologist Role:
Our client is looking for a Technologist who would be expected to have some input into the creation of a product brief. When delivering development projects they would be expected to consistently meet the brief that they have been given.
Your main duties will be:
- Responsible for developing, innovating and improving varioustypes of products for the vehicle care and vehicle wash areas, both for home and export markets by adhering to R & D procedures and Design Policy (including legislative requirements, health and safety and environmental issues).
- Responsible for providing technical back up on commercial activities with customers.
- Responsible for other agreed or alternative projects and activities with the Directors relating to problem solving, process and product development and quality improvements.
- Expected to make themselves available for participation on projects for the innovation workgroups.
- To provide support to the Continuous Improvement Engineer, Quality Control Technician and Production staff for problem solving and oversee modificationsand introduction of new products to ensure smooth handover to production.
- Provide support for demonstrations, field trials and customer support as required.
- Generate reports on test trials, complaints and competitor product analysis.
- Responsible for the circulation of appropriate information on test results and other data to relevant personnel within the Company as agreed.
- Accountable for completion of projects and all testing within agreed time.
- Maintain liaison and Technical support with Manufacturing and Sales & Marketing staff.
- Maintain an awareness of projects and activities within the Company.
- When required, to act as Company’s representative and maintain an effective liaison with suppliers and test agencies.
- Assist in Quality Control functions and production problems when required to do so.
- Attend meetings as a technical representative of the company with internal and external bodies on relevant matters.
- Responsible for routine stability trials.
- Maintain awareness of current and possible future legislative requirements including Health and Safety and Environmental aspects world wide.
- Assist and deal with quality procedures (including complaints and calibration) when required to do so.
- Assist in packaging trials.
Your Background:
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
- Degree in Chemistry
- 2 years working experience in a laboratory
- Experience in surfactant technology and formulating of polishes, dressings anddetergents and environmental aspects would be advantageous
- A good balance between theoretical and practical experience
- Good report writing skills and computer literacy
- Be friendly, positive, assertive an have the ability to make decisions onown initiative.
