CK Group are recruiting for a Laboratory Technician to join an ingredients and additives manufacturing company that supply primarily to the food and pharmaceutical sector, to be based at their site in Epping on a full time, permanent basis.

TheCompany:

Our client is a manufacturer of ingredients that are supplied to the food, industrial, personal care, processing and pharmaceutical industries. They hold a number of accreditations including BRC, Kosher, Halal, RSPO and more. They now require a Laboratory Technician to join the team due to internal progression. Reporting to the Lab Manager, the company offers a salary in the region of £23,000 per annum depending on experience. Hours are 9am-5pm Monday-Friday. This role would suit achemistry graduate looking to enter industry, or someone with a existing industrial lab background.

Location:

This Laboratory Technician role is located in Epping, an easy drive from Harlow, Enfield, Chelmsford, Hatfield and other surroundingareas.

Laboratory Technician Role:

Your main duties will be to:

  • Perform designated quality control tests and methods to a trained standard, in accordance with FSSC 22000 and BRC v8 procedures, food safety and quality management systems. Tests may include techniques such as Viscometry, UV Spectrophotometry, wet chemistry techniques and bespoke methods specific for the products under test.
  • Perform research projects under supervision of either the Lab Manager or the Technical Manager.This may include the use of a number of cooking techniques and functional tests to assess new supplier products or competitor’s products. Initiative and observational techniques are encouraged. The technician will be required to work with the following that may include food allergens: Raw meat offal, meat products and raw fish, dairy products and powdered stabilisers and emulsifiers.
  • Perform equipment calibrations as directed to ensure the validity of results obtained from equipment and to comply with the Quality Policy.
  • Maintain QC and research records to a trained standard in order to comply with FSSC 22000 & BRC v8 and to ensure traceability.
  • Maintain the incoming samples record database and storage facilities.

Your Background:

The ideal candidate for this role will have the following skills and experience:

  • Degree qualified or equivalent in Chemistry - strongly preferred
  • Experience gained in the ingredients or food industry with knowledge of long shelf-life products would be advantageous
  • Experience or knowledge of viscometry, UV spectrophotometry, wet chemistry, moisture, LOD, total ash etc. tests would be beneficial
