CK Group are currently recruiting for a Colour Chemist to join a coatings manufacturing company based near Ilford, working on the forefront of coatings technology. This role is offered on a full time, permanent basis.

Location: This role is based near Ilford which is easily accessible by road fromRomford, Enfield, Brentwood, Harlow and surrounding areas by road. Free parking is provided. The ability to drive with car would be preferable but the site may also be reached by public transport.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Colour match existing customer and OEM colours in an accurate and efficient manner, taking into account raw material choice and formulation costs.

  • Work with the Colour Design Manager to develop new and innovative colour and design effects

  • Ensure that all development work is recorded thoroughly, and that formulations are kept updated and maintained
  • Ensure that formulations are accurate and practical for manufacture, and that all documentation and target samples are of a high enough quality that new products can be made efficiently and accurately through the factory.
  • Liaise with Manufacturing, QC, and BDMs to assist in the efficient resolution of factory and customer problems.
  • Seek to continually improve colour-matching and formulating skills, and knowledge of the available colour and effect pigments, to enable more efficient and accurate colour development activities.

Your Background: In order to be considered for this role, you will be required to have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • The jobholder should have experience in the laboratory environment and have good colour vision and judgement.

  • They may also have experience of formulating new products.

  • Previous experience in the industrial coatings industry would be useful.
  • The job holder should be computer literate, and some travel may be needed occasionally.
